Joomla1.6
Joomla 1.7 For Web Sites
Well it is now time for us to start using the Joomla 1.,6 version for a full blown website of over 150 pages of content for a new client, which will then take us onto Joomla 1.7 upgrade during the development. We would prefer to start with 1.7 but
unfortunately we do not have the time and we have to start the template design and layout.
However this may not be a bad thing as it will be a good introduction the the new Joomla version, and should give us a good insight as to how it all fits together. Hopeful using Joomla 1.7 for web sites in the future will be a seamless process, and with any luck 1.7 will be around for a while to come unlike the quick 1.6 to 1.7 transition. From what i hear in feed back from clients is that, making a massive change and releasing Joomla 1.6 and then only months later saying that you are releasing 1.7 make them uneasy, and· were there issues and problems with Joomla, which then raises questions at to whether they should be using it for their website.
We do reassure Joomla users, our clients that Joomla is secure and safe to use. We have clients still using Joomla 1.1.10 with Virtuemart and their sites are still going strong. So the questions remain should we use Joomla 1.7 for web sites on the 19 July? and the answer to this is yes! There is no reason to stick with older versions unless you want a specific component that is not yet compatible. As a web design company that uses Joomla we will be using both 1.5 and 1.7 and only phasing out creating new sites in 1.5 next year.
